Lepchajagat Homestay

Our homestay is on the route that runs Ghoom to Sukhiapokhri, Mirik/Kurseong, NJP. It is a three-storey structure. This is a hotel that can accommodate a good number of visitors at once. The cleanliness of the homestay is worth Mentioning
My friend Omprakash ji is the owner of the property and it maintained by two very humble persons Mr. Siddhartha Lama and Mr. Prasam Thapa.
Food is prepared by the hosts as an amenity themselves. In the kitchen, there is no professional chef. The food is great, hospitality is too good. Behavior of the Owner, staffs feels like they are your old friends.
2nd Property
We have 6 rooms with attached bathrooms and geysers in our Homestay. Our homestay has clean, well-furnished rooms with spectacular views of Kanchenjungha. The homestay is bordered by pine forests on all sides. Mr Subhas Tamang, the proprietor, is a simple man who is known for his friendly hospitality. Testy dishes prepared by the homestay are served. There is enough room for a bonfire.

Attractions:
Because nature is in full bloom here, a walk through the woods with wild animals, a plethora of birds, a sea of mountains, and the silver-glistening Kanchenjunga may be the primary appeal. Sunrise and sunset from Lepchajagat are breathtaking. Ghoom Rock, 1.5 kilometres from Lepchajagat and 7900 feet above sea level, provides a breathtaking sunrise vista. The Balasan Valley is well visible from this vantage point. Darjeeling’s town is lit by Deewali lights at night, giving it the impression of a hill. Birdwatchers should not miss a visit to Lepchajagat.

You may walk around Tiger Hill and other sights in and around Darjeeling, or visit the ageless Ghoom Monastery. The Queen of Hills’ weather in June and July is consistently about 20°C. The sight of the sun’s gentle rays kissing the foggy peaks of the hills is very heartwarming!
Jorpokhri (about 5km distant), noted for its tranquil beauty and vistas of Kanchenjunga, a lovely pond, and the endangered Himalayan Salamanders.
The Ghoom Monastery is around 10 kilometres away.
Pashupati Market is around 15 kilometres from the Indo-Nepal border and is noted for its low-cost international items. Be wary of Chinese-made items, as well as fakes. Only Indians having a valid Id card are permitted access.
Mirik – Famous for its lake, which is bordered on one side by trees. Along the same path, around 27 kilometres from Lepchajagat and further down from Pashupati Market.
Manebhanjan, the starting point for the Sandakphu walk, is around 11 kilometres away and takes about 25 minutes to get to.

Bagdogra, the nearest airport, is 115 kilometres from Lepchaghat. Darjeeling Himalayan Railways’ New Jalpaiguri is the closest railhead. You may either ride a toy train or a private car from New Jalpaiguri. It’s roughly an 80-kilometre journey.
To reach Lepchaghat, avail buses/ car/shared jeep from NJP, Baqgdogra, Siliguri, Kalimpong, Kurseong and Darjeeling. Along the way, you’ll be treated to some spectacular views.

At 7000 feet above sea level, this little, unspoilt village is 19 kilometres ahead of Darjeeling. Lepchajagat translates to “place of the Lepcha people” or “village of the Lepcha.” The town is surrounded by rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, which provide a wealth of natural beauty. On the north-eastern side of Lepchajagat, Mount Kanchenjunga stands tall with its surrounding peaks. This is a fantastic place for nature lovers to stay in an out-of-the-way setting that is both natural and quiet. The only sound during the day is the chirping of different birds.
The major attraction of Lepchajagat is its proximity to Darjeeling while yet allowing you to stay in a beautiful setting with breathtaking natural views. You may spend the entire day seeing the village.
