Associate Property

Our homestay is right next to Salamander Camp, with a spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, a deep valley, and a lush green Tea Garden on the other side. Mr.Sonam Sherpa is an excellent host; he has been living there with his family for the past 15 years. His wife is preparing delectable regional cuisine. He also takes you on local tours and tells you about the history of Maldiram or Mahaldiram.

The host family will frequently assist guests in taking a hike by foot in the surrounding region to the forest or neighbouring vistas to enjoy nature in all her unadulterated splendour.

How to reach Mahaldiram

Maldiram is roughly 70 kilometres from Siliguri and 22 kilometres from Kurseong. New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is the nearest railway station, and if you’re flying in, you’ll need to fly into Bagdogra.

You can hire a car in Mahaldiram from NJP, Bagdogra, or Siliguri.

About Mahaldiram

In North Bengal, various stunning and eccentric areas are not only blessed with natural beauty but also distant from the masses. The instant you arrive at Mahaldiram, you will be completely awestruck by the beauty of the unexpected. Mahaldiram is located distant from the madding crowds and the bustle of city life. At Mahaldiram, one can easily spend one or two days in the lap of Mother Nature.

At an elevation of 5800 feet, Mahaldiram is an offbeat tourist attraction nestled in the Darjeeling Hills. Mahaldiram is a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. Mahaldiram is becoming popular among those wishing to spend a day or two in the hills in solitude, serenity, and quiet. Mahaldiram is a one-of-a-kind tourist destination with views of the beautiful Kanchenjunga to the north and the Teesta river valley to the south. You can enjoy walking about the tea plantations at any time if you stay near a tea garden. In December and January, Mahaldiram has orange orchards full of luscious fruits.

The village is located within the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. The route to Mahaldiram is lined with lush foliage on both sides. The road weaves its way through lush pine forests and tea gardens. Mahaldiram’s major draw is its undisturbed pure beauty. The residents here primarily work in tea plantations and are involved in agriculture. Mahaldiram’s principal crops include ginger, huge cardamom, and cinchona. There are also orange orchards.

There are few Mahaldiram homestays, and tourism has just recently begun as enterprising residents have discovered the possibilities of tourism in recent years. Our Tea Garden Retreat is the best Mahaldiram Homestay has to offer, with a distinctive theme hotel atmosphere. There are other Mahaldiram Homestays, however they may not have the same ambiance as us, but the hosts’ warmth and kindness are unsurpassed.
